Forza Horizon 6 has officially dropped us into the breathtaking landscapes of Japan, and let’s be real—the car hunting is better than ever. If you are anything like me, the moment you booted up the game, you started scanning the horizon for those legendary, rust-covered barns hiding automotive royalty. Today, we are talking about tracking down one of the absolute beasts of the time attack world: the 2005 Mitsubishi #1 Sierra Sierra Enterprises Lancer Evolution Time Attack.

This widebody, high-downforce Evo is an absolute weapon on the touge routes, but finding it isn’t as simple as accidentally stumbling across an old shed while blasting through the countryside. Playground Games shifted things up this time around, so here is exactly how to unlock the rumor and where to find the barn.

    The Catch: Unlock Requirements
Unlike previous Horizon titles where you’d get a random radio call just for putting miles on your odometer, Forza Horizon 6 ties its secret Barn Finds directly into your campaign milestones. You won’t see a single hint on your map until you put in some groundwork.

Discover Japan Level: Your first main target is to hit Level 6: Adventurer in your “Discover Japan” Collector’s Journal.

Earning Campaign Progress: You can grind points toward this rank naturally by playing the game your way. Completing main story missions, mastering the twisty road and touge races, buying player houses, or smashing those regional mascots hidden across the map will all boost your level.

The Purple Stamp: The second you cross the threshold into Level 6, the game will award you the Purple Stamp in your journal. This is the exact trigger that finally drops the barn find rumor circle onto your map.

    Barn Location: Deep into Shimanoyama
Once that rumor circle lights up the northern section of the Shimanoyama region, pack up your best off-roader and head out. The barn is tucked away nicely, but if you know what landmarks to look for, you’ll find it in no time.

The Region: Head to the northern side of Shimanoyama.

The Landmark: Set your waypoint for the historic town of Narai-juku.

The Route: Look for the unpaved, off-road trail running just above the northern edge of the town, heading east. As you drive along this dirt path, keep a close eye on your right-hand side for a small, easily missed exit trail branching off into the woods. Follow this narrow path all the way to its dead end hidden deep within the trees, and you’ll pull right up to the barn.

Pro Tip: Don’t expect to take it to the drag strip immediately. Once you discover the barn, the Evo will be sent off to your garage for a full restoration period. Pull up gaming resources like Polygon’s Barn Find Guide or Red Bull’s Campaign Guide to keep tabs on restoration breakdowns and map visuals while your pit crew brings this monster back to life.

Looking for a different Mitsubishi Time Attack car?
Just a quick heads-up so you don’t spend hours looking for the wrong shed: if you are searching for the quirky 1990 Mitsubishi #269 Minicab Time Attack, it won’t be found anywhere on the map. That specific micro-machine is exclusively available via the paid Time Attack Car Pack DLC.

I swear these barn finds always make me explore the whole map more than the main missions 😂

I didn’t even know they tied it to journal levels now, I thought it was still random like older Forza games.
