If you are shopping for a new Android phone in Nigeria, you have probably come across two names that appear again and again: TECNO CAMON and Infinix NOTE.
Both series target buyers who want a lot of features without moving into the most expensive flagship-phone category. However, they do not approach the smartphone experience in exactly the same way. Camera hardware, displays, charging, performance, battery capacity, software features and even the way each brand positions its phones can differ significantly from one generation to another.
That is why comparing the names alone can be misleading. A CAMON 50, for example, has different hardware from an older CAMON 30, while an Infinix NOTE 50 Pro has considerably different specifications from an older NOTE model.
In this guide, I will break down the major differences between the two families and explain what each difference means for a Nigerian buyer. If you are still deciding what type of phone suits your needs, you can also check my 2026 guide to the best smartphones to buy in Nigeria before making a final decision.

TECNO CAMON vs Infinix NOTE: What Is the Main Difference?
The simplest way to understand the two families is to look at their priorities.
TECNO CAMON has traditionally placed strong emphasis on photography, portrait photography, camera hardware and image-processing features. Recent CAMON models continue that direction. For example, the official TECNO specifications for the CAMON 50 list a 50MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide camera, while the CAMON 50 Pro adds a 50MP 3x telephoto camera.
Infinix NOTE, meanwhile, often combines a large AMOLED display with fast charging, sizeable batteries, performance-oriented processors and additional features. The NOTE 50 Pro, for example, has a 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED display, a 50MP OIS main camera, a 5,200mAh battery and up to 90W wired charging according to Infinix’s published specifications.
That does not mean every CAMON is automatically better for photography or every NOTE is automatically better for performance. The exact model matters more than the family name.
1. Camera Features
Camera performance is one of the biggest reasons people consider the CAMON series.
TECNO has continued to put considerable attention into the camera systems on newer CAMON phones. The CAMON 50, for instance, uses a 50MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide camera. The CAMON 50 Pro goes further with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP 3x telephoto camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera.
The CAMON 50 Ultra 5G pushes this approach further with a 50MP main camera, a 50MP 3x telephoto camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera. TECNO also lists a Sony LYTIA 700C sensor and AI-powered camera features on the Ultra model.
Infinix NOTE phones can also have capable camera systems. The NOTE 50 Pro, for example, includes a 50MP OIS main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 32MP front camera. It also supports features such as Super Night, portrait and professional camera modes.
So, if photography is your biggest priority, do not stop at the megapixel number. Look at the actual sensor, OIS, telephoto availability, ultrawide camera, autofocus, video recording and image-processing features of the specific models.
If you enjoy taking pictures with your phone, my guide to signs that your phone needs replacement can also help you decide whether upgrading your current device makes sense.
2. Display and Screen Experience
Both families can offer impressive screens, but the exact specifications vary by model.
The TECNO CAMON 50 uses a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution. TECNO lists 1208 × 2644 resolution for the device.
The CAMON 50 Pro also has a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution.
The Infinix NOTE 50 Pro also takes the high-refresh-rate AMOLED route. Its official specifications list a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel, 144Hz refresh rate and 1080 × 2436 resolution.
This means you should not assume that one series always has the better screen. In some generations, the differences are much smaller than the marketing suggests.
For everyday use, a good AMOLED panel can make a noticeable difference when watching YouTube, browsing social media, reading articles and viewing photos. A higher refresh rate can also make scrolling and supported games feel smoother.
3. Performance and Gaming
Performance is another area where the exact model matters.
The standard CAMON 50 uses the MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate processor, while the CAMON 50 Ultra 5G uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate and supports 5G.
Infinix’s NOTE 50 Pro uses the MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate. It comes with up to 12GB of physical RAM in the listed configurations, plus extended RAM, and uses UFS 2.2 storage.
For normal activities such as WhatsApp, Chrome, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, online classes and document editing, either type of phone can provide a good experience when you choose a sufficiently powerful model.
Gaming is different. If you play demanding titles regularly, pay attention to the chipset, GPU, cooling system, RAM, storage technology and sustained performance rather than simply looking at the amount of RAM printed on the box.
You can also compare your requirements against my phone requirements for gaming guide before choosing a model.
4. Battery and Charging
Battery life is particularly important in Nigeria because many users deal with long periods away from reliable electricity or spend considerable time outdoors.
The CAMON 50 has a 6,150mAh battery and 45W charging according to TECNO’s official specifications. The CAMON 50 Pro and CAMON 50 Ultra 5G also list a 6,150mAh battery with 45W Super Charge.
The Infinix NOTE 50 Pro uses a 5,200mAh battery and supports up to 90W charging. It also supports up to 10W reverse charging.
These specifications show an interesting difference. A CAMON model can offer a larger battery, while an Infinix NOTE model can emphasize faster charging.
For someone who frequently charges in short periods, charging speed can be extremely useful. On the other hand, a larger battery can be valuable if you spend long hours away from a charger.
If battery longevity is important to you, you can also read my guide on how to extend your smartphone battery life.
5. Software and User Experience
TECNO phones use HiOS, while Infinix phones use XOS.
The current CAMON 50 specifications list HiOS 16, while the NOTE 50 Pro runs XOS 15 in the published specifications. Software versions can change through updates, and availability can depend on the particular model and region.
Both interfaces add features on top of Android. That can include customization tools, smart features, privacy controls, device-management options and brand-specific applications.
Instead of asking which interface is universally better, I recommend checking the specific phone you intend to buy. Software support, update commitments, preinstalled applications and available features can differ between generations.
If you are interested in Android features generally, my guide to Android features you may not be using is worth reading alongside your phone research.
6. Design and Build
Design has become increasingly important in this price segment.
Newer CAMON phones can feature curved AMOLED displays, slim bodies and premium-looking finishes. TECNO’s CAMON 50 Pro, for example, measures around 7.38mm thick according to the official specifications.
The Infinix NOTE 50 Pro also focuses heavily on its physical design. Infinix lists an ArmorAlloy metal frame, a 7.32mm thickness and a 198g weight for the model.
Therefore, neither family should be viewed simply as a budget-looking option. The current models can offer displays and construction that feel considerably more premium than older generations.
7. Connectivity and Extra Features
Connectivity is another area where the model number matters.
The CAMON 50 supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C and OTG. TECNO also lists an infrared remote-control feature.
The CAMON 50 Ultra 5G adds 5G connectivity and eSIM support, although availability of particular connectivity features can depend on the market and carrier.
The NOTE 50 Pro includes NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, USB Type-C, OTG and GPS. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor and an infrared blaster.
These small features can become important after you have owned a phone for several months. NFC, for example, can be useful for supported contactless functions, while an infrared blaster can let a compatible phone control certain appliances.
8. Audio Experience
Do not overlook speakers when comparing smartphones.
TECNO lists dual speakers and Dolby Atmos on the CAMON 50 family.
The Infinix NOTE 50 Pro also has dual speakers, with audio tuned by JBL, plus Hi-Res Audio and DTS features according to Infinix’s specifications.
This can make a difference if you regularly watch movies, listen to music, play games or watch videos without headphones.

Which One Should You Consider for Photography?
If your main reason for buying a phone is photography, start by looking closely at the CAMON models in your budget.
The reason is simple: photography has been a major part of the CAMON identity, and recent models offer features such as OIS, larger camera sensors and, on selected models, dedicated telephoto cameras.
Still, do not buy based on the CAMON name alone. Compare the exact camera hardware of the two phones you are considering.
Which One Makes More Sense for Heavy Everyday Use?
For heavy everyday use, look beyond the camera.
Check the processor, RAM configuration, storage, display, battery and charging system. For example, the NOTE 50 Pro combines a 144Hz AMOLED display, Helio G100 Ultimate processor, 5,200mAh battery and 90W charging.
A newer CAMON can also be a strong all-round phone, especially if it gives you the camera system and battery capacity you want. The CAMON 50, for example, combines a 6,150mAh battery, AMOLED 144Hz display and Helio G200 Ultimate processor.
What About Price in Nigeria?
Prices can change quickly in Nigeria because of exchange rates, import costs, retailer margins, promotions and stock availability.
For that reason, I would avoid choosing between CAMON and NOTE based on an old price list. Instead, compare the current selling prices of the exact storage and RAM configurations you are considering.
You can also use my list of phones and their prices in Nigeria as another starting point when researching the market.
If you are working with a specific budget, my guide to phones under ₦200,000 in Nigeria can help you narrow down your options.
Do Not Confuse Extended RAM With Physical RAM
One specification that can confuse buyers is extended RAM.
Both TECNO and Infinix advertise configurations that combine physical RAM with software-based extended memory. For example, TECNO lists CAMON 50 configurations with extended RAM, while the NOTE 50 Pro can also add extended RAM to its physical memory.
Extended RAM should not be treated as identical to having the same amount of physical RAM. It uses storage to support memory management rather than adding the same type of physical memory found in the phone’s RAM hardware.
When comparing two phones, therefore, look at the actual RAM configuration first.
What I Would Check Before Buying Either Phone
Before paying for a TECNO CAMON or Infinix NOTE, I would check these specifications in this order:
- Exact model: Confirm the complete model name rather than just CAMON or NOTE.
- Processor: Check the chipset if gaming or demanding applications matter to you.
- Camera hardware: Look for OIS, sensor size, autofocus and telephoto support rather than megapixels alone.
- Display: Check AMOLED, resolution, brightness and refresh rate.
- Battery: Look at capacity and charging speed together.
- Network: Confirm whether the model supports the 4G or 5G connectivity you need.
- Storage: Make sure the built-in storage is enough for your photos, videos and applications.
- Software: Check the Android and interface version and the manufacturer’s update information.
- Warranty: Buy from a reputable seller and confirm the warranty terms.
- Current Nigerian price: Compare the actual price before making your decision.
This approach is more reliable than choosing a phone because one brand has a higher megapixel number or a larger RAM figure on the box.
Final Thoughts
So, TECNO CAMON vs Infinix NOTE: which features differ? Quite a few.
CAMON phones have a strong photography and imaging identity, with recent models offering OIS, high-refresh-rate AMOLED displays, large batteries and, on selected versions, dedicated telephoto cameras.
Infinix NOTE phones can combine strong displays, fast charging, capable processors, large batteries and camera features in the same device. The NOTE 50 Pro is a good example, with its 144Hz AMOLED display, 90W charging, 50MP OIS camera and Helio G100 Ultimate processor.
Ultimately, the most useful comparison is not simply CAMON vs NOTE. It is specific CAMON model vs specific NOTE model.
That distinction matters because manufacturers can change processors, cameras, batteries, charging systems and displays from one generation to the next. Before spending your money, compare the exact models, check the official specifications and then consider how you actually use your phone.
